Inglorious Basterds NEW trailer is out!!

And quite frankly it looks sweet. I'm a huge Tarantino fan and I've been salivating over the idea of him helming a gritty WW2 picture for a very long time now. The potential for gore and badassery is nearly overwhelming. Not to mention some interesting casting choices that include Brad Pitt, B.J. Novak (The Office) and Samm Levine (That little guy from Freaks and Geeks). Now that I've seen a proper trailer I have to say I'm pleased, but not completely satisfied. Where is the signature Tarantino visual style? It doesn't look bad, it's just your typical bleak grey WW2 backdrop. That petty gripe aside, this looks like a bloody good time. See for yourself.

I have no idea what you mean... Every movie he has done has had drastically different visual styles (ranging from the bland style of "Reservoir Dogs", to the exceptionally weird style of both "Kill Bill" and his work in "Grindhouse", and I don't see how this movie should be an exception. For all we know (and from Tarantino, we may want to expect it) he has some tricks up his sleeve in terms of stylistic choices and overall content. All in all, good update but this is one that I think you'll agree we'll have to judge better when more official releases come out.

  2. I think that ultimately we're agreeing with each other on this. My point is also that he tends to use drastically different visual styles and it's not so much a specific style that I'm referring to from any one movie, but moreso the useage of an interesting visual style in itself (which I don't see present from the trailer). I could have been more clear on that. And I certainly didn't mean to imply that my opinion on this is finalized in any way. Only time will tell!

  3. Finally saw the trailer last night in IMAX looked Great. I'm not sure what you mean by signature Tarantino visual style. I don't feel like any trailer i have watched for his previous movies like Pulp fiction have been any better quality than this one. Glad to see B.J. Novak in the movie maybe Quentin will make a Man out of him. Especially with the Hitler at the end I think it looks like classic Tarantino. "...and i want my scalps" AWESOME!

  4. I guess what I meant by that was just that I don't see an obvious unorthodox or artistic visual take present, like that of Kill Bill. Definately didn't mean to slight what I've seen so far because it looks frikkin unbelievable. Also I was strictly referring to visuals, everything else seems to be in tune with what you'd expect from a Tarantino flick.
